Amid the quiet scenery of the Makino Highlands, Kotani shapes vessels with warm, expressive surfaces using black slip, white glaze, and kohiki techniques.

His fine arts background lends a painterly sensibility, where clay and glaze form gentle, landscape-like patterns. In harmony with nature, his pieces invite touch and bring a soft presence to everyday life.
